Open Seas
Open Seas is a coming-of-age story about friendship, desires, and growing up. Set in the noisy, boundless state of freedom called Amsterdam student life, third year student Philip Hofman slowly sees his future collapse. Philip, a well-behaved boy with a long-term girlfriend named Elisabeth, comes to realise that there is another darker and more sexual person hidden away inside of him.
All raised in affluent but broken families and dominated by successful fathers, Philip and his best friends Matt and Jacob struggle with relationships and their mutual friendship. Jacob's suicide makes everything come to a head: does true friendship allow room for secrets? Is love fragile, or can it take a punch?
And most importantly: is it possible to escape your parents' shadow while you seek answers to these questions? Open Seas is a story about the loss of illusions, the shame of looking in the mirror, and answering the question: 'who am I, really?'
